About
Getting School Ready® with The Foundation for Early Learning
Getting School Ready® is a project of the Foundation for Early Learning; a statewide foundation that gives children in Washington a strong start in life and learning.
This website is a resource to help new parents and caregivers as they explore the development of their children. The website will help you, your child’s best teacher, prepare children who will be socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively prepared for school and life beyond.
History
The original Getting School Ready content came out of 41 community conversations with more than 300 parents, early childhood educators, kindergarten teachers, school principals, and community members.
A special thank you to our partners for making this project possible:

About the Foundation for Early Learning
The Foundation for Early Learning grew out of the Governor’s Commission on Early Learning and was started with a generous $10 million grant from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Over the first seven years, the Foundation has invested nearly $7 million in early learning programs and networks in Washington with the mission to support early learning and school readiness for all children, birth through age five.
The Foundation plays a key role in developing community-based initiatives throughout Washington that support parents as their children’s first teachers and programs to ensure that all children have access to high-quality child care and early learning opportunities.
Please also visit our website for additional resources. The Foundation for Early Learning’s website has additional publications, information, and ways to donate.
